Have You Got Talent?

My work put on a talent show tonight.  Interesting talents included peeling a banana with toes, Nepalese music, a salsa cook-off, folk dancing, a film, and many more!!  Brittany (the other secretary) and I wrote up a funny skit last night and performed it at the talent show.

We won most creative.  Boo-yah!

Our skit was an exaggerated day in the life of a secretary, including enthusiasm for menial tasks, long trips to deliver supplies, and creepy knowledge about all the other employees.  It was pretty funny!  (Ferreals!  People actually laughed!!)  We ended it out with a superbly choreographed dance (no exaggeration whatsoever... maybe) to The Secretary Song by Sawyer Brown.  It might be the funniest song I've heard in awhile-- some of the lyrics include:

"You were made just to be a secretary
You were made for love."

I have to wonder-- is that actually a compliment to tell someone they were made JUST to be a secretary?  Also, what the heck does that have to do with being made for love?  I suggest checking the song out-- it's good for a laugh :P

I also got an amazing "statue" (aka a full Mrs. Butterworth syrup bottle spray painted gold).  Might be one of the best things I've ever won!  (Hey-- I AM a poor, starving college student, remember?!)

The talent show overall was quite the success.  It was fun to see my co-workers doing something other than working.  I also got to know some of them a little better, which was nice because I'm usually so far removed from them in my office.

So A+ to everyone.

Snapshot of America

I feel like a good citizen.  Our apartment received our census form:

We promptly filled it out...

And sent it back to the census people.

Go us!... I mean, America!!!

(O')Crash Crew

I went to BYU's Best Dance Crew tonight.  This was a contest for the dance clubs at BYU; every piece was choreographed and performed by amateurs who do it all on their own time.  So, kudos to everyone who participated :)  My old friend, Vinny, was a contestant, participating with the breakdancing club.

His group, Crash Crew, came in second!  However, my favorite crew (sorry Vinny!), the Equalizer Crew, won :)  They were a hip-hop dance group who had an awesome routine with unity, acrobatics, and just plain amazingness!  It was trick-nasty :P

Also, in accordance with my part Irish heritage, happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Sunday is a Happy Day

My roommate, Jamie, and I whipped up some last-minute pasta salad for our ward's Break-the-Fast dinner.  Not bad for our first (and rushed) pasta salad, huh?

Ingredients include: pasta, yellow squash, diced tomatoes (Italian style), chopped onion, green pepper, and homemade balsamic vinaigrette (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mustard, garlic powder, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper)

It was delicious!  We almost regretted sharing it, but I think everyone else liked it too, as it was gone within minutes!  Yay for experimentation!

Tonight, with some friends, I watched the lovely movie "Les Choristes".  Here are a couple of the beautiful songs and moments from the movie (à la YouTube):

Vois sur ton chemin

La nuit

Caresse sur l'océan

It's a touching story, with beautiful, soul-lifting music, and I highly recommend it :)

Good night!
